Optional excursions include a tour of Volcanoes National Park or a visit to the scenic twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.
The centerpiece of the expedition is the 4-day Gorilla Trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park, offering an up-close encounter with majestic mountain gorillas. Engage in a pre-trek briefing for a responsible and memorable wildlife experience. Travel to Ruhengeri, the Gorilla trekking base, and explore the twin lakes in the afternoon.
Experience the enchantment of Akagera National Park during an evening game drive, spotting the Big Five and diverse wildlife against Rwanda’s natural backdrop. Enjoy a full day in Akagera with morning and afternoon game drives, including an optional Boat Ride on Lake Ihema.

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, our representative will greet you and transfer you to the elegant Kigali Serena Hotel. Enjoy a comfortable night on a bed and breakfast basis at this five-star hotel, ideally situated on one of Kigali’s charming boulevards, showcasing the best of Rwandese cultural art.

After a delicious breakfast, embark on a City Tour of Kigali, exploring Gisozi Genocide Memorial sites, the Richard Kandt Museum, and local markets. Following the tour, drive westward to Ruhengeri, the gateway to Gorilla trekking at Parc National des Volcans. Experience the scenic beauty and the warmth of the local people in this charming town.

Start your day with an early breakfast before heading to the Volcanoes National Park HQs. There, you’ll receive a pre-Gorilla Trek briefing and be allocated to your trekking group. The trek can take from two to six hours, and hikers must be prepared for up to 6 hours of walking. Lunch will be served at the lodge, followed by a visit to the picturesque twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.

After breakfast, check out and drive to Akagera National Park for an afternoon at leisure. Later, embark on an exciting evening game drive in the park, known for its diverse wildlife, including the Big Five. Return to your lodge/camp for dinner and relaxation.

Spend a full day in Akagera National Park with morning and afternoon game drives. In the afternoon, opt for a Boat Ride on Lake Ihema, offering a chance to observe hippos, Nile crocodiles, and the rare shoebill stork among 480 bird species.

After breakfast, drive back to Kigali, arriving in the early afternoon. Optionally, enjoy a farewell lunch at Kigali Serena Hotel, courtesy of untouched wilderness trips. Later, transfer to the airport for your homebound flight.
Note: Gorilla Permits are non-refundable and non-changeable. Ensure correct passport details are provided for permit issuance. Permits cost $1,500 per person per trek.
